The best Yousician alternative depends on why you are leaving. If you want a real-time scoring app, look at Simply Guitar or Rocksmith+. If you want a proper video course, Fender Play, Guitar Tricks, TrueFire, Guitareo and JustinGuitar all fit. And if you simply do not want another monthly bill, Jamorama is the one option here you pay for once. Below is who each one suits, with the downsides included.
Prices and plans checked on official pages on 30 September 2026. They change, so confirm on the vendor’s page before you buy.
Why people look for Yousician alternatives
Three reasons come up again and again in searches like “yousician alternative”, “is yousician free” and “cancel yousician subscription”.
- Subscription fatigue. Yousician is a subscription. If you would rather not add a recurring charge, a one-time course or a free course changes the maths. See what Yousician costs.
- Free-plan limits. The free plan is limited and there is a 7-day trial on the official page, so many people hit a wall quickly. Our page on whether Yousician is free explains where.
- Wanting a structured course. A game-style app rewards streaks and scores. Some learners would rather follow one ordered lesson path with a teacher.
If you are still deciding whether to stay, read our Yousician review and is Yousician worth it first.

Simply Guitar
In our view, the closest match to Yousician’s format: an app that listens to you play and gives feedback. It is also a subscription, so it does not solve subscription fatigue. Its monthly plan is listed at EUR 9.99 a month on its Spanish page. Full details are in our Simply Guitar review.
Choose Simply Guitar if you like real-time feedback and just want a different app.
Fender Play
A video-lesson subscription from a well-known guitar brand, built around guided paths. We could not see a public price, so check the current one before committing. Pros: a clear path for beginners. Cons: it is a recurring cost, and video lessons usually do not tell you whether you played a note correctly. Read our Fender Play review.
Choose Fender Play if you prefer watching a teacher over playing against a score.
Guitar Tricks
A big video library with courses and song lessons. We did not find a list price; the only figure we saw was a seasonal sale at $99 with code FALL26, which may not be there when you read this. Pros: breadth. Cons: a large catalog can feel overwhelming if you want one clear route. See our Guitar Tricks review.
Choose Guitar Tricks if you want plenty of teachers and songs to explore.
JustinGuitar
Justin’s core lessons are free. That makes it the cheapest route, and a sensible baseline to compare paid options against. The trade-off is that you supply the discipline: nothing scores you. Our page Is JustinGuitar free? covers what is and is not included.
Choose JustinGuitar if you want to spend nothing and can keep yourself on schedule.
Jamorama
Affiliate link: we earn a commission if you buy through it, at no extra cost to you.
Jamorama is a one-time purchase, listed at $97 on the vendor’s own page, with a 60-day refund through ClickBank. It is 10 courses, about 275 videos and about 14 hours, taught by Mark McKenzie. That makes it the only paid option here with no recurring charge and a single ordered path.
The caveats matter. There is no real-time feedback, the song library is smaller than the big platforms, and we found no evidence of regular new lessons. The vendor also shows a higher “usual” price that we cannot verify, so we ignore it. On Trustpilot, jamorama.com had 41 reviews and a TrustScore of 1.4 when we checked (the star breakdown is more positive than the score, and the score gives more weight to recent reviews). Reviews from 2014 to 2017 praise the teaching, while four from 2023 to 2025 report login or support problems, and none were posted in the last 12 months. Read what to check before you buy, and use the refund window early.
Choose Jamorama if you want one ordered course, no subscription, and can live without app-style feedback.
TrueFire
TrueFire’s All Access plan is $143.88 a year ($11.99 a month billed annually), with a 7-day trial. Pros: many instructors and styles, so you can grow past the beginner stage. Cons: an annual commitment, and a wide catalog needs you to pick your own path.
Choose TrueFire if you already know you want to keep learning for a year and like variety.
Guitareo
Guitareo costs $30 a month or $279 a year. It offers 7 days of free access and a 90-day money-back guarantee beyond the trial. Pros: a real trial plus a long guarantee. Cons: a recurring cost.
Choose Guitareo if you want to test a course platform risk-free before paying.
Rocksmith+
Rocksmith+ is a play-along game. Its official terms say it auto-renews and is non-refundable, so be sure before you subscribe. Our Rocksmith vs Yousician page compares the two head to head.
Choose Rocksmith+ if learning through songs motivates you more than lessons do.
How to cancel Yousician
According to Yousician’s help center, you can cancel at any time, but you must cancel through whoever charged you: Yousician, Apple or Google Play. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel the subscription.
- Billed by Yousician: log in on the Yousician website, scroll to the Membership section, select Cancel subscription and confirm.
- Billed by Apple: on your iPhone or iPad open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose the subscription and tap Cancel subscription.
- Billed by Google Play: on Android open subscriptions in Google Play, select the subscription, tap Cancel subscription and follow the instructions.
Not sure who charged you? The Membership section of your account shows the provider. Premium access continues to the end of the paid period, then the account returns to the free version. Cancelling does not automatically refund your latest payment. Follow the official cancellation guide in case the steps change.
