Guitar Start Guide publishes guides and reviews to help beginners make good decisions about learning guitar. This policy explains how we create, review, and update our content.
Our Principles
- Honesty over promotion: We only recommend products we believe are genuinely useful, and we are explicit about limitations.
- Beginner-first: Every guide is written for someone starting from zero, in plain language.
- Affiliate transparency: Some links are affiliate links; our editorial opinions are not influenced by them. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
- Accuracy: We fact-check claims about prices, features, and technique, and update content when things change.
How We Review Products
When we review a course, app, or piece of gear, we assess it on price, teaching quality, structure, and who it actually suits. We compare it honestly against alternatives and note when a cheaper or free option would serve a beginner just as well.
How We Research
We do not claim to have hands-on tested every product we cover. Our reviews are based on the vendor’s official pages and documentation, published pricing, refund and privacy policies, and publicly available user reviews and feedback. In some cases we have had direct access to a product; where that is so, the page says so, and otherwise the review should be read as research-based.
If you own or represent a product we cover and would like us to look at it hands-on, we would be glad to: contact us and, if we get access, we will test it and update the page, saying clearly which parts we tested. Last updated: October 2026.
